A Little Bit Of Everything

The past two weeks have been crazy for me, travelling to different cities for work. That means, I had very little time to shoot for myself. Nonetheless, I did bring along a camera with me, and stole whatever small opportunities I could find to fire the shutter button away. This compilation of photographs is not done in a cohesive manner, and created out of total randomness.

I think I should do more selfie so more people will be able to recognise me.

Malaysia has just celebrated the National Day on 31 August. There really is not much to be happy for, the country is in a mess and the future is questionable.

I do not take photos of homeless people much these days, but this one just had my finger itching to get a shot.

The flying bottle. I was drawn to the repeated sign (reads "One Way" in Malay).

Olympus Malaysia just had a Macro Photowalk in Johor on 28 August 2016, a Sunday. Had a blast meeting all the awesome Olympus shooters from JB and even Singapore.

I cannot wait for this weekend to come. I need a proper shutter therapy. Then I will be able to write a more coherent blog entry. Until then..

  2. Hi Robin
I'm a big fan of you for couple of years, back to the time when you were still in Perth XD.
Just wondering, why the pictures taken by you are so colourful, very nice contrast. Have you done any post process?

    1. Hey Chris,
Thanks for staying with me for more than 10 years! Wow, you are probably one of my oldest blog reader (by old I mean been here for a long period of time).
Yes I did some post processing, mainly to increase contrast. I did not modify the color.

  6. I read your comments regarding how you feel like things aren't what they used to be in your country. Is there any nation on the planet whose citizens don't think things aren't going so well? The world is in a spiritual depression. "Shutter Therapy" is exactly what the world needs! We all need to get out there and 'double up' on our photo sessions.

BTW, I am constantly amazed at how you can get what I assume are total strangers to open up and let you photograph them! I mean you can't know THAT many people, can you?

    1. I have written lengthily about approaching strangers before. That, and Malaysians are usually quite friendly.

  7. I have always enjoyed your street photography and have been following you several years. Your macro shots are also stunning! What setup did you use for those macro shots?

  8. Not everything may be perfect in Malaysia, but it was still the place I enjoyed living in the most. I miss it and its friendly, approachable people.

  9. Hi Robin

With the homeless guy and the flying bottle you made two photos with a lot of symbolism about consume and economy! The bottle flying straight from the shop on a one way lane into the trashbin...

Also like your macro shots. I'm getting slowly there, and your blog helped and motivated me a lot - thanks!!

    1. Great observation Andreas!
Just keep shooting, the more we shoot the more we improve, this is especially true for technical intensive photography like insect macro.
