More M.Zuiko 25mm F1.8 Goodness

I was out shooting about at Pudu, a place I have not visited in quite a while. The sky was a little hazy and Kuala Lumpur has been extremely hot lately with no trace of rain for weeks now, hence it was not exactly a fun thing to just walk around drenching your shirt (and possibly all other parts of your cloths) in sweat. Nevertheless, I managed to grab some shots, and hey, that is all that matters and shutter therapy must go on!

All images were taken with Olympus OM-D E-M5 and M.Zuiko 25mm F1.8

Look at the camera!

That Olympus M.Zuiko 25mm F1.8 lens, is with me in all shutter therapy sessions now. Such a great lens, I wish Olympus have had this years ago since the very beginning of Micro Four Thirds launch!

  2. Robin, if you have 17mm already and you want to buy other lens between 25mm vs 45mm.. Which one do you choose? :)

    1. Marcus,
45mm combined with a wider lens gives a nice two-lens set that can shoot just about any situation. 25mm is nice if I'm going out with just one lens.

    2. Dear Marcus,
I have had a 17mm and I sold it off, and the 25mm is my replacement. However, that is just my preference.

Dwight is right, it is prudent to have a wide angle lens and then a slightly longer lens so you have a more well balanced coverage. Ultimately which focal length combinations you choose depends on what you shoot and what your shooting style is.

    3. The Leica 15 is actually amazing btw works well as a 28mm equivalent and is so sharp!

    1. I am also always slightly disappointed not to be able to see camera settings. For a while, there used to be exif data available for the pictures...
Still, they're beautiful pictures. It'd be just the icing on the cake =D

  5. Ok great, my whole message just vanished when I chose a "comment profile", so I'll make this short and sweet. As a working shooter, I have to use a 7-14, 12-35, 35-100 (favourite, awesome!!) and I like them, but I have to say that the Oly 25mm is such a joy to shoot with and the images are always superb, on a job or just for fun. It has a great rendering, and I wish all my lenses could be as reliable and fun. The 45mm however is not as accurate to autofocus even in office lighting it can just miss the eye or give soft portraits. The 45mm is great in good light, good in interior light and slow and/or inaccurate in low event light (it can be hit and miss, where the 35-100 will nail focus every time and quickly). I seem to be the only one to experience this with the 45mm as nobody has mentioned it. So for others who are considering it, this 25mm is just great in EVERY way. The Oly 12mm is a bit disappointing as it can be sharp closeup at f2 but can be soft at a short distance or infinity at f2, but great by f2.8, this 25mm is sharp ALL the time.

I can't wait to read what you have to say about the 42.5mm Robin. Thanks for a great post as always and thought evoking images.
