  1. I have shot extensively this year with that 30mm micro...it was a SOLID value at $299US when I purchased it. Not super compact, but that is about all the "con" there is. Sharp, light, quick, and you can take pictures of anything: from nearly touching the front element to distant objects. Close. Far. For $99US? Almost an insult to the true photographic potential of this fine lens. If you shoot Olympus (and thus have in-body IS), you cannot go wrong with this lens.

    1. I almost jumped when I saw the price! I agree with you, it is an insult to what the lens can do

    2. Shows the strength of MFT lens line up - between Olympus & Panasonic three worthwhile macro lenses in the affordable price range. Comparing to, say, Canon and the 100mm f2.8 macro - great value. And the compact size of the Olympus bodies with tilting screens makes getting a snap of plants etc. fairly easy vs a DSLR.

  2. $199 appears to be the everyday price for the 25mm f1.8 on Amazon. Too bad it really isn't a deal.

    1. Half off--$99--is not a deal? Perhaps you did not notice the sale price? It was worth $199, for sure...even $299. Go get one! ;-)

  3. Tempted, but taking into account the courier fee and possible taxes, is it still worth it? The $99 macro is quite attractive though..

    1. Oh, for me it was totally worth it: Even including fast shipping, German taxes and customs duty, I paid like 2/3 of the Amazon price.

Robin, thanks again for that tip. It made a nice birthday present for my girlfriend: Ever since I pushed her over to the MFT world, I thought I owed her a replacement for her favorite lens from her old Nikon world (which was a macro). So this was a very nice opportunity :-)

  5. Wow! I actually bought this 30mm macro lens 25 days ago for $199 from ebay. I test the lens and I love it. (ended up I also bought a ring flash) I am glad to visit your site few minutes ago and found out this GOOD deal. I will return it since it has 30 days money back guarantee.
