Smallest Micro Four Thirds '28mm' Setup: Panasonic GM1 + 14mm F2.5

I have always loved shooting with 28mm equivalent wide angle for my street photography especially when I am doing environmental portraits. I believe Micro Four Thirds has the best setup for 28mm street shooting - Panasonic GM1 + 14mm F2.5 lens. This combo is so compact, yet it performs so well and can deliver amazing results. This is truly what Micro Four Thirds is all about, truly tiny footprint that can produce impressive big results! I brought the GM1 and 14mm lens out for some street shooting and I am sharing my experience using this combo with some fresh street images in my latest video here (click).

  1. Super sharp image. I only imagine how did you take overhead image of the food tray since gm1 screen is fixed.

Did you find the autofocus sluggish or adequate?

  2. Hi Robin, Very nice photos. Love your street photography. I also acquired a smallish PEN E-PM2 camera used recently. To make it more secure when carrying, I made a finger loop for it from a velcro cable tie. Cheap and easy. I'd post a photo if I could.

  3. Having used the Pany 14mm f2.5 exclusively for a week on vacation in Florida (attached to an E-PL7), I was pleasantly surprised how versatile and useful this compact package was for me. I acquired 14mm recently and the E-PL7 a few months ago, as a viable backup for the EM-5iii (just large enough to carry the 12-40mm F2.8 Pro and decent IBIS performance). The price of older digital cameras has increased significantly with pricing for a GM-1 at around $400 US on Ebay.
