Just sharing a few more photographs from my recent model photoshoot with Nicole. Honestly, I did not do much, all the posing were done by Nicole. I was a terrible director, and I just told her to be herself and did not force her to do any of the poses she did. If you think the photographs turned out good, it must be all her. I was merely there snapping away with the OM-D E-M1 and M.Zuiko 40-150mm F2.8 PRO lens.
My part? Just watch how the light fell on her, and compose. The location was a city/urban street with morning light, and most photographs were taken under shade with soft lighting.
My inspiration for portrait shooting? Kirk Tuck. Though I know I am miles away from what he can do with his portraiture work, and probably my shots look nothing like the ones he could do, but hey, everyone gotta start somewhere.
My fravourite headhsot actually, but unfortunately it was blurred due to my own mistake of not observing the shutter speed.
amazed by m4/3 system and lens! not forgetting your skill and model, reading your blogs made me jump to the mirrorless system :D

DeleteI agree with K. M. Robin's work and my father's (who has an EM-1) showed me the potential of he m4/3 system and made moving away from my Nikon DX kit a reality as I now proudly own an EM-10.

DeleteInteresting. I did a lot of portraits with the original 50-200mm f/2.8-3.5, especially while I'm out photographing sports. I would naturally turn to the 40-150mm f/2.8 for both in a smaller package.

Deletehah ... m4/3 really kick it, even now i shot with full frame, but coz of that, i know, the FF weakness, not on IQ area, but in the area of joy to use, encurage to shot more, not leaving the camera on bag in the car, always ready, company me all the time, damn ... miss my e-pl5 ...

ReplyDeleteYour blog is convincing me to drop my FF gear and all of my heavy lenses and make the switch to m43! I have a question about distance and height. For the full body shot (5th image going down) how far away were you and how tall is Nicole? That full body shot is pouncing into FF territory.

Hey jsvfoto, I could not remember how far I stood but I have to say it was not near indeed. I was shooting at 100-150mm focal length.

ReplyDeleteYes great review. I'll add an Olympus body the day the 300mm F4 comes out. For now I'm using the Oly 40-150 T2.8 on the GH4 and using higher shutter speeds to negate stabilization but when its the 300mm real stabilization will be needed.
