Unexpected

A cat decided to join the party. Did we fret, or get so frustrated? Did we throw the cat into the water?

I decided to add the cat into my composition.

Not an originally planned shot, or what I have had in mind. For some reasons, I really like this shot. It has some very personal meanings to myself, but of course, many times, good photographs are personal photographs.

Why worry so much about what people say about you or your photography work? First and foremost, you must be comfortable and like your own work, before you can share it out. If the photograph is your personal favourite, no matter what people say, it is still your favourite.

  1. And that's why cats are usually happy, and dogs look worried! Dogs always worry about your opinion, cats go their own way.....

    Lovely shot Robin.

  4. Hi Robin,
Great composition but what attract me most is the characters in the image. Cat was a holy animal in the old Eqytian world. A cat is subtle, tender, flexible, focus and confident. That's why the cat always fall on it's four legs and not on it's back. The lady reflects the image of the cat, her focus is on the cat and no worries, not even of the cold water beneath. The first two characters got higher on the stairs of life as in your shot. The man is imbalance shown by his hand going to hold the hand bar, full of worry of everything around him. He worried of his lady falling into the water and of the cat which may distract his lady as shown by his step forward. He carries a heavy load up the leader in life. He is not alone as I am one of those character.
Great shot and great meditation material. Well done.

  5. Wow! Excellent image, Robin, well-seen! What strikes me is the contrast in motions and intent - the cat pacing purposefully, Janice watching calmly, Anston hurrying forward. Three beings and the relations between them in one moment in time. And composition-wise, it's perfect, of course. Allow me to say "street photography" on a plank! Your vision keeps growing, thank you for sharing with us.

    1. Thanks Tom !!
In all honesty, it was a very lucky shot, which I did very spontaneously, without much thinking. I did have some considerations, like the upward shape of the bridge, the pause of Janice, and the forward motion of the cat, but thats all, and I did not have time to tie everything in together. However when I reviewed the image, there was like "aaahhh there is was something else there".
