Happy Birthday Yeow

It was one unsuspecting Tuesday night we decided to have a get together session, not just an ordinary chit-chat yum cha session but for a surprise birthday celebration for a dear friend, Yeow Chin Liang. He has been an important friend to many PEN Lovers, and he is the backbone of this group. He has always been vividly active and encouraging members of PEN Lovers to shoot more, share more photos, and most importantly, spreading the poisonous GAS (Gear Acquisition Syndrome) amongst ourselves. His catchphrase (which many of us would use frequently as well) is "buy buy buy!!!"

All images in this entry were taken with Olympus PEN E-PL1 and Panasonic 20mm F1.7 pancake lens.

So we got together and had some good food for dinner at Tanjung Bungah Curry Fish Head Restaurant at SS2. At that time I think Yeow has not suspected much yet, since some of the usual core members were absent. Nonetheless, thanks a lot to Gerald who managed to grab Yeow's gift last minute just before the dinner, and Simon who came after dinner to help out setting up the cake (you guys don't wanna know where we got the cupcakes) and candles. As we had our subsequent yum cha session at nearby Kayu (up-class mamak place), Simon and Gerald stayed behind with an excuse of wanting to buy some DVD at a nearby video shop. The rest of us knew what was happening, and we kept Yeow busy in Kayu, which was not exactly a difficult thing to do thanks to Yeow's talkative (in friendly manner of course) nature.

Then out of nowhere, came the cupcakes with candles lit on top of them, carried in by Gerald, and we all sang the birthday song for Yeow, led by Simon himself. Ahhhh beautiful moments in life !!

At this moment, I wish I have recorded the whole event in video instead of just photos, because seeing the expression in Yeow's face was worth all the trouble we went through. His burst of emotion was suspended in animated glee that I found myself clicking the camera away.

Sudden burst of emotions

Hope you like it man !! Sorry photo a bit OOF, was too tired after a long day of work.

Seeing everyone soooo happy, somehow made me warm and fuzzy inside.

I should surround myself with positive thinking people, who are more optimistic about life. Laugh more, because laughter is the best medicine.

To Yeow, I wish you all the best in everything you do. Hope you had a great time celebrating with us, and we really, really hope you love the gift that we have bought for you. Stay cheerful always, your infectious smile, neverending enthusiasm and overwhelmingly cheerful nature are the very important reasons that kept the PEN Lovers, and all of us going all this time. I have never met anyone with so much charisma when it comes to shooting, and your constant support and generous contributions to all of us are deeply, deeply appreciated. I am truly glad, and privileged to have known you and be your friend. Thank you from the bottom of my heart.

Happy Birthday Yeow Chin Liang !!
