2006/01of cars FLYING
This is the second day of Chinese New Year, and here I am, sitting in front of my laptop, staring at this.... I have been back from Perth, and spending my pathetic wasteful life in my hometown Kuching for almost 2 months now, and the one thing I looked forward to was definitely the Chinese New Year celebration.

It is that time of the year again, and all Chinese from every corner of the world shall come together... It is Chinese New Year, and I am here blogging away.

2006/01Made of pure ROCK
There is something so beautiful that made my eyes POP during my previous trip to Sibu. My relatives took me and family to a place called, the "Rock Garden". Please correct me if there is any better translation from Mandarin version of this garden.

2006/01Chinese New Year spirit
As a good good decent boy, I accompanied my mum for Chinese New Year shopping from morning through to the afternoon. We went to several familiar spots in Kuching, like Padungan shops, Tun Jugah shopping mall, Sarawak Plaza, Upwell and Everise Padungan. Being around in these places brings out the spirit of Chinese New Year in me, with all those overly-loud cymbal clashing drum bashing and lady with ugly voice screaming God knows what CNY tunes played over and over on the cheap sound systems around the shopping places, man... I'd rather chop off my dick ears. There are several usual markings that symbolizes Chinese New Year Celebration.

Perth is truly a remarkable place to be. One stare closer around the spot where ever you are, most likely you will notice the unusual traits and marks along your journey. Take your time, look around, you will see things that you may not expect to see. Some, are uniquely interesting to say the least.

2006/01Nasi Goreng ??
I never really liked the shopping malls in Kuching. Most of the items sold are ridiculously overpriced, and lack of variety. However, there is something that keeps me going back to the Tun Jugah Shopping Mall. Oh well, by now, anyone would have guessed, this must have something to do with "food".

2006/01SIBU ~ the People of ~
Since my dad’s family originated from the Sibu, until this very day I do have quite a number of relatives still living there. Well, all those uncle-uncle aunty-aunty cousin-cousin… yeah.. And I felt very fortunate to have good people to take advantage of free accommodation and food guide and brought us around during my family’s trip there.

2006/01SIBU ~ the City of ~
During my visit in Sibu, I had a brief stroll along the city center. Walking around the shops congesting the whole area was a memorable experience. There were impressive landmarks spotted from place to place around the city. The sight of Sibu city is simply beautiful.

2006/01SIBU ~ the food of ~
In my previous entry I described in detail my journey by express bus from Kuching to Sibu. Arriving in Sibu… Gosh.. there were so many to blog about. The food, the places, the people.. et cetera. Since I am overly obsessed with food a food lover, I shall blog about the food in Sibu first. Yup, Sibu is the place to find cheap, yet surprisingly yummy food in agreeably generous portion in every serving. With just RM3 or less, one can have a simple yet decent complete meal for any time of the day. Economical? Definitely so, in comparison with my hometown Kuching, or even Kuala Lumpur.

2006/01Burger King in Sarawak !!
I have been to Sibu (a town away from Kuching in Sarawak) for the past few days, a family trip which unpleasantly bored me to near death. Sibu was where the family from my father's side originated from, and your guess would be right. I am a Foochow-Chinese, but sadly I speak none of the over-ly loud and alien language. I was there for four days to be exact, from Saturday to Tuesday of the following week. There will be a series of blog entries regarding my brief visit to Sibu and in this first installment, the focus would be solely on the journey along the way to Sibu. We went there by land, using Bintang Jaya Express bus.

2006/01Unusual Advertisements
Previously on http://www.robinwong.blogspot.com/, we have seen many unusual and unique advertisements or promotional tecniques that no other place has revealed before. Refreshing your memory, first off we have a banner promoting Malay food, with Spaghetti as the main item on the banner menu. Intriguing to say the least. Using European food to advertise Malay food.

2006/01DVD 2
I thought I have seen it all. Click here to view my old entry on DVD in Kuching. There are 2 movies in one dvd, 3 movies, 4, 5, even 7 movies compressed into a single disc selling in local pirated media hotspots. I thought freaking 7 movies compressed in one piece of DVD was the limit. I was wrong. Until I saw this face to face.

2006/01More tennis
Please read the previous entry (Tennis) before you continue on if you have not done so. I have been going around Kuching more lately, and apparently, tennis ball is also used elsewhere as a promotional item. What an interesting trend. Screw Kenny's Coconut balls. Tennis ball rocks big time !! Anytime !! In a camera shop, at the lowest level in Saberkas Shopping Center...

2006/01Expensive Food vs Economy Food
Once upon a time, before the destiny of Mr Wallet carrying Mr Money Cash was lost till nowhere to be found, the sole living purpose of Mr Money Cash was to fulfill my never-ending hunger. Deep in the night, stomach calls out for supper miserably. Hunger MUST be killed. Must.. There were all kinds of food. Good food. Considerably, slightly expensive food.

2006/02Of Grass Dying
I have lived almost my entire childhood in an apartment house, growing up not touching anything related to gardening and that sort. I am completely useless when you tell me about planting vegetations on the "ordinary" house garden, nor do I have any background in maintaining an actual garden. Heck, I have never mowed a lawn before. I guess that is one luxury of living on an apartment. All along the places in Perth, you can spot well-maintained green and soft pastured lawn, in opposition to the overly grown, long and ugly grass patches found everywhere in Malaysia.

2006/02First Day of Last Semester
Today marks the beginning of the end of my time in the ever-torturing-hell-bound University of Western Australia. As much as I look forward to the start of the semester, I just could not find myself anywhere as enthusiastic as I was when I first came to Perth. Somehow I felt that some things were not meant to be, and I am just a little out of place at the moment. Just a harmless honest feeling I have, that relunctantly held back my spirit and fire in me.

2006/02Dirt Cheap CD
In the quiet, slow moving city of Perth, the center for shopping is laid out on two primary adjacent, parallel streets, namely Hay Street and Murray Street. Almost every normal shopping items are avaliable there, and boths streets are overly congested with human traffic during the weekends especially. There are arcades that run in-betweens or connect both Murray and Hay Street, like Carrilon City and Piccadily Arcade. Those arcades consist of more than one floor of shopping area space, with lots more indoor shopping.

2006/02Of Penis and Ice-Cream
There are things in Perth that are done with special styles and presentation that none can be seen elsewehere. I have always loved the ice-cream food chains running around here, namely the Gelato or the Gelare. The freshly made flavours and not too sweet, yet smooth and rich texture of the ice-creams are something that one shall find extremely tempting in hot weather of Australian summer.

Earlier on today there was the O-Day happening right in my university, UWA, at James Oval. This was the day when all the university clubs and organization come together to promote their clubs to the students, especially the freshies. The stalls were setup for the clubs, and the whole field was packed with so many people at the time I arrived. The clubs and organizations have very very interesting techniques in tricking and cheating luring the students into their clubs. Of course, like usual, I would play hard to catch.

The evening with Pak Lah was not over just yet. Right after Pak Lah left the building and everyone else making their exit, I found myself in a group of newly met friends from other universtities and off we went to fulfill our everlasting hunger. Yes, you heard that right, the food provided for that event with Pak Lah was not enough to kill any of my our hunger !!! After a brief discussion, we decided to go for Indian food.

2006/02An evening with Pak Lah
Pak Lah (Prime Minister of Malaysia, Abdullah Ahmad Badawi) is in Perth !! I am not sure if I should feel excited about this, but having a meeting with the Malaysian students session in a 5-star hotel with good food served is just an occasion I could find myself not to miss. The session was held today at 4.00pm at Hyatt Regency Hotel in Perth.

2006/02In Case of Fire, Shout FIRE
In Australia, the procedures and local regulations for operational systems everywhere tend to be a stretch too lengthy and ridiculously unnecessary sometimes. The pointless custom checks that snatch away harmless belongings at the arrival in the international airports and the overly-strict measures over anti-terrorism are just to name a few. As crazy as the case can be, things just could not get any more interesting than this.

2006/02Of Cartoon Strips and Assholes
My relatives from the states sent me the following strips that were found in their local newspaper dated quite some time back in the previous month. Following up the overwhelming response to the Danish cartoon strips(click) published and shunned by Muslims worldwide, the illustrations shown below genuinely reflects what the situation really was. I am not judging or making any statements here on the incident that occurred back then, just keeping my distance watching and making a few good chuckles out of it.

2006/02Of Hot Babes on Beach
I woke up late today to a wonderful sunshine and clear blue sky. It was sunny, a little windy, and I thought to myself, this was just the perfect time to head down for the beach. 2006/02Naked Babe on Dining Table
I have deep appreciation for art, especially when it comes to home decor and interior design. I may have lost my lusts and passion in art generally after I stepped into the torturing, hellish, soul-tormenting, skull splitting world of engineering, but I still find myself drooling over good piece of art, like an abstract painting, or nice vase. I believe everyone has a little artistic side in them, no matter who or what they have become. If we truly pay attention, there is art in just almost everything everywhere.

2006/02Of Valentines and Heat
The weather has been completely unforgiving these few days in Perth, I can take my shirt off and everything else off sitting down, not doing anything, with the fan on full blast and still sweating like a pig. Arrghhh, I seriously hate such extreme hot weather, especially summer in Australia. Cruel cruel sun. You can feel your hair and skin burning as you walk around under the sun.

2006/02See something, Say something
There are some things in Perth that have clearly been overdone. I simply believe that the overly-strict and squeeky tight controls and regulations over terrorism possibilities are ridiculuously annoying. I remembered last year on my flight back to Kuching, the custom officers snatched my silverwares away from my hand carry luggage, which I find rather amusing while in the flight the MAS attendents served us food with utensils made of steel.

2006/02Popularly Messy
Back in my final days in Kuching, on my ever stretching last minute shopping list, I need to get myself some stationeries to bring over to Perth. There are not many good places to get good stationeries in Kuching though. Most places in Kuching would have the same stationery collection that has never ever been updated probably since all the way back in 1995. You will most likely see a ballpoint pen covered with a thick layer of dust, with the price tag proudly displaying the same price as it was years back.

2006/02of Flight to Perth
Alright, after the previous soapy-softy-weepy-baby-cry entry, I shall post a rather lighter one this time. Perth, here I come !! My last moments in Kuching felt rather draggy and lengthy, and I have God to thank that for, since I really do feel my time was insufficient. Without extended time, having limited given time felt extra long is a bonus plus.

2006/02Kuching ~the city of~
I have lived almost the entire of my life away in Kuching, the city of cats. Kuching is one of the major cities in Malaysia (I consider my home city a major city) and the name itself is derived from the Malay word, Kucing, which basically means Cat the meow meow animal in English. Well, perhaps cats dominated the entire city and walked the place once before us evil humans stepped over and conquered it. Therefore, to remember all the cats we have ferociously killed, we have built statues of the cats and placed them all over the places in the city.

Things have not worked out very smoothly for me recently and I had no options but to make my flight ticket purchase at such late hour. Yes, only today that I moved my huge heavy ass to the local MAS office to find my way back to Perth. When I arrived at the office, like everyone else, I needed to obtain the number queue and wait my pathetic turn.

2006/02of Friends and Garden
I have always treasured good people, especially friends around me. I have come to believe that friends are an important part of my life. A person’s life shall never be as fruitful and whole with absence of good friends. No one can truly live alone, and sometimes, friends can be as precious, if not more as our own blood. Friends come and go.

2006/02Free Ang Pows at Star Cineplex
Watching movies in Kuching is undeniably a sad experience. Since I used to buy pirated VCDs and DVDs for new titles most of the time, I never cared bout cinemas We do not have many choices left, since there are only a few operating and “functional” cinemas running locally. I used to prefer Riverside Cineplex because of the superior picture and sound quality, as well as the full back support complete with head rest seats designed to my comfort-liking. Sadly, Riverside Cineplex has declined in service and quality over the years, losing big time to Star Cineplex.

2006/03Of Penis Vs Equations
There is one thing in Engineering that scares the shit out of everyone: the complexity of the mathematical formulae. I do not know why, but most of the time, we miserable students would encounter incredibly long equations that may require more than the space across of the entire paper !! Not to mention this poor fellow writing this blog understands very little if nothing at all about those formulae and equations. Darn, Engineering sucks.

2006/03Of Clocks Ticking Away
Before I came to Perth, I have always marvelled at the promotional photograph of the University of Western Australia. No, not because of the architectural appeal. No, not the historical attributes and breathtaking surrounding landscape. No, there are no hot chicks with big boobies on the promotional photos. It is actually the clock tower on the Winthrop Hall. Yes, the clock tower. Why on earth would anyone construct the main building, with a clock tower on it? Something rather rare in Malaysia.

2006/03And My 9010 Died
Few days ago I posted how much attached I was to my 9010. The day after that, it decided to give up one me. Maybe it was something I said in the blog that upsets my laptop, maybe it was the way I play too much DOTA with it, or maybe it just could not stand such high volume of pornographic materials. I dont know. Sadness as I speak, mt 9010 refuses to start up since yesterday morning. It happened on Thursday morning, which was yesterday, and I left it there by itself, in hope that it will "self-heal" and come back to life again. It did not, and it is still not starting up.

I have been using my old HP-Compaq 9010 laptop computer for almost two years now, and I gotta admit I am getting sick of it. It is an April 2003 model, and it has been faithful and served me well till this very day. Well, I never complained about anything, though I must acknowledge: The slow graphics performance (DOOM 3 cant even run properly after installation), The bulky size thick like a dictionary, The heavy weight, over 4Kg together with the power chords and other accessories.

2006/03Student Cafe
When I first came to Perth, I knew I will have to dig out a lot from my shallow pocket to fulfill my everlasting hunger. Me and my housemates here do take turns to cook most of the days, but that would just specifically for the dinners. For lunches, I usually have something very light, toasts or sandwiches, or anything of that sort since I could not find much time in between lectures and tutorials to prepare proper meals. Something simple, quick and filling are enough to kill off part of the hunger till dinner time. What a sad life.

People sure have ways to convery certain message to other people via sign boards, may it be official or not, but creativity may prove to be a stretch too extreme at times. Overly expressing a point may just kill off the point itself.

There are just so many things to see and explore in this world, and knowing that the best is yet to come, eyesight is an important human sense to take care of. watching porn is the most rewarding one No matter how elaborately and accurately you describe the beauty of something to another person, he will not truly understand and appreciate the real beauty until he actually sees that something. Seeing is believing. Unfortunately, like many people in the world, I have terrible eyesight. When I was 12 years of age, I already wore a thick pair of glasses.

2006/03Scientifically Erotic
I am moulded to think scientifically. Most people who take up science, medicine or even engineering like me would have the square and framed type of thinking that sadly depletes the artistic side off their minds over the time. I see my creativity fading off, in compensation to survive the hellish world of Engineering. However, the schools of engineering in my university do their part in promoting arts and creativity into the soon to be engineers. They encourage the students to think outside the box, think at the side of the box, at the back of the box, and perhaps even imagining no box at all.

Since we could not find pirated version of the softwares Some of the problems assigned to us were super-complicated, and the so-not-user-friendly softwares are of no help at all. I am scared of a lot of things. One of my natural fear is of spiders. I just hate spiders. I do not know why, maybe it is my natural instinct that tells me spiders are dangerous, and do not touch them !!! Today, of all the places in the house, right at the corner of the washing sink in the kitchen, I found this. Ok, that spider has moved up a bit since i scared it off.

2006/04Who needs to lock the car?
You may install the lastest security system on your precious 4-wheel babe, yet, if the thief really wants your car, he will have his way around virtually anything. I guess cases of break-ins with core equipments stolen have been rather frequent and common nowadays. On my way back from McD yesterday, I saw this beauty. I guess she would have caught anyone's attention passing by.

I was raised and born in Malaysia. I attended my entire school years in Malaysia. I was nuts back then when it comes to English, because everything back then was taught in Malay Language. Yeah, guess that right, Malaysia, the national language is Malay. Yes, I speak Malay, I am considered fluent in it, since that was the core medium for all the currcilum taught in the school except English of course. If you think that I am a Malay just because I can speak Malay and was raised in Malaysia, go can go stick your head in the toilet bowl and flush it down repeatedly. The sad truth about Malay Language is... the lack of originality.

2006/04Freedom of Speech
Somewhere in the middle of Murray Street Mall in the busy busy city of Perth, there is this one unique place that probably strikes the attention of the public every weekend. There is this open stand for anyone to practise freedom of speech. This particular corner is valid for anyone, and the topic of interest is completely free. People speak of politics most of the time, some may even preach the gospel, like people have not had that enough in the many churches around this Christian nation.

2006/04Air Asia
Air Asia is the one and only Airline alternative in Malaysia besides Malaysian Airlines, MAS. In the beginning, Air Asia provided nothing short of "normal" air flight services, with their flight fees priced just slightly lower than budget flights of MAS. I remembered my first flight to KL from Kuching in Air Asia in 1999, the flight seemed to be a replication of what MAS produced, with full in flight meals provided, seat bookings and so on. Over the years, God knows what happened which I can care less about, something goes terribly wrong in Air Asia, changing from a "normal" flight airline to the "budget-dirt-cheap" airline.

2006/05Of a Monster Walking the Uni
Well, if you do not know much or have not even heard of the university I am studying at, the University of Western Australia (UWA), this is the chance for you to discover some eerie truths lurking around the uni. UWA is one of the Group of Eight Universities, which ultimately means the uni I am at now is ranked pretty prestigiously in this Land Down Under. Having been here for a couple of years, I gotta say that one thing extraordinarily outstanding about the uni itself, would be... the extensive researches performed in every disciplines and fileds.

There are many variants of Laksa, but the Sarawak Laksa would usually be boiled rice vermicelli (Bee hoon) soaked with the special laksa gravy cooked with coconut milk, served together with shredded eggs, bean sprouts, shredded chicken, and generous portion of prawns.

2006/07The Crazy Bitch at the Busport
Today is Thursday, which means the only day for late night shopping in sub-urban areas of Perth and for someone who is in holiday mode like me would definitely take this opportunity to go out from my miserable house and do something more interesting. Not that blogging and reading blogs are not interesting, but hey.. I believe there is more to life than just blog, though there is also life in blogs. Alright, if you can make any sense at all from that previous sentence, I take my hat off for you.

2006/07The Riverside Bloggers' Meet
I have been looking forward for this specific bloggers' meet-up eagerly since the previous two meet-ups I have been to were superbly fantastic. Instead of having the meet at cafes or restaurants, this time, we had a slight change to style, a more laid back and nature-exposed setting was chosen for the meet which was held during lunch time. The place was near the Mend Street Ferry Jetty (Also known as Mill Point Jetty) with huge green open lawn by the wide blue waters of Swan River. Similar to Matilda Bay, but with a complete view of the Perth city just across the river.

2006/07Concas: The Cyber Cafe with Two Computers
After four days and three nights of tiring and sleep depriving camp trip, I was finally back to Perth city on Thursday evening, near sunset at 5pm. As I was just about to settle down, either throwing myself on the sexily tempting bed who called out seductively for my body, or rest my huge heavy ass on the study chair and start catching up with the blogosphere, my dear housemate came looking for me... Wei Thien: Hey, wanna have Chili Mussels for dinner?? Sarah's invitation. My Exhausted Body: Cannot... I need to sleep.. SLEEP !!!! My Exhausted Mind: Cannot....

2006/07OCF Winter Camp: The Lessons and the Dramas
This particular OCF Winter Camp was rather different and stood out prominently from the usual stereo-typed Christianity Theme-based camps, not in terms of activities and arrangement of events, but more of the messages and lessons delivered. There has been intensive bible study sessions and workshops that encouraged interactive discussions and sharing by everyone present, and beneficial aspects of life and Christianity have been widely accepted and received. I would like to focus on one particular aspect which I find rather intriguing and outstanding at the same time.

2006/07OCF Winter Camp: The Place and the Food
Not only did we have awesome and great people throughout the OCf Winter Camp, the setting of the Camp at the Orchard Glory Farm itself was truly something spectacular. I believe this is one of the best and most suitable places to go for any camps, particularly those bearing religious and spiritual themes. The surrounding and landscape scenery are nothing short of breathtaking and the area enveloping the farm is stretching endlessly towards the horizon, provoking the sense of freedom and calming to the soul. Just looking at the rising sun in the early morning at such atmosphere brings peace.

2006/07OCF Winter Camp: The People
As I was flipping through the photographs that I have taken throughout the OCF Winter Camp, I discovered that the most astounding photographs are not of the wild animals or the beautiful landscape, but rather of the beautiful people I have had the privilege to meet and get to know better. Someone in the camp mentioned that it is not the place that makes up the overall experience of the event, but rather the people that you go through the event with. I have been blessed with wonderful people throughout the camp, hence this entry is specifically dedicated to the people of the camp.

2006/08Robin Returns
Screw Superman. Screw Batman, who needs them when Robin is around? And now.... Robin has returned to Kuching !!!! Woooo Hooooo.. I have traveled far, from Perth, stopping in KL for 5 days and now finally, I have reached home, with the snail connection of 1515 blogging and reading blogs. Hah, laugh all you want, I can't even load my own blog page properly, since I have been so used to doing all those with my precious broadband back in Perth. What goes around comes around eh? Tortures whipping back to myself.... Anyway, I am still a little beaten up from all those travels and good times I had in KL.

2006/08Graduation far away
During the UWA Expo (click) that I blogged about not too long ago, most of the buildings in the university were open for public viewing, including the grand Winthrop hall. This was not my first time stepping into the hall, but somehow, I had a different feeling while I was standing inside looking around the entire space. I felt, sad.

2006/08Malaysian Food in Perth
Being here in Perth for many years already, I dare say that there is not many events or festivals organized here specifically for Malaysian food. Being away for so long now, one could not help but miss the food back home dearly. Thanks to a dear friend Tzu Yen (click), I have been informed and invited to join his group of cool friends to this Malaysian Food Festival held in Queen's Park last Sunday. Coincidentally, the UWA Expo which I have just recently blogged about happened at the same day, and at the same time, hence it was really a rushy day.

2006/08UWA Expo 2006
This is another one of those yearly event organized by my university to draw in more people, especially the prospective students. This is like the old school open day concept, with most of the buildings being open to public while all schools and disciplines lined up their most attractive tricks and attention grabbing materials to tell their wonderful "stories" about what they can offer to the students. People come from all sorts of places and flood the university ground, and of course, everyone working at the exhibition did a great job hiding what hellish depressing torturing and God knows how painful university stress and pressure can be.

2006/08Little Ceasars
Somewhere in Perth, a group of crazy people decided to go somewhere really far and do some really really crazy stuff. Interestingly I am included in that group of crazy people, and with two cars we drove all the way from Nedlands to Mundaring for slightly more than an hour. For what? To where? Many people have mentioned about that place. Cynthia (click) has recommended the place. The place itself has won many national, and international awards, proudly being displayed right at the entrance. The place is...

2006/08Transport Revolution
Walking may be the most versatile and economic mode of transport, but.. don't you just hate the unpredictable rain and scorching heat of the sun? I am sure no one wants to walk a long way with inconvenient umbrella in one hand... A car or other petrol eating vehicles may be more "advanced" mode of transport, promising speed and shelter from harsh weather.... but don't you just hate the traffic jam, the parking troubles, and ridiculous amount of money spent on ever-rising price of petrol ?? Not to mention maintenance costs etc...

2006/08Just a bit unwell
I have come across a lot of charity activities and operations from all around the world functioning for all kinds of reasons, many which would involve both huge and small scale to induce sympathy amongst people living ordinary everyday lives and in hope that they would fork out a copious amount of money from their pocket to fit into funding of the purpose of whatever the operation intended. It has become such a norm that whenever there is a street beggar asking for a dollar, I would just instantly look away and shiver with the thought that... "Geeez..

Like many other guys in the world, I am deeply depressed when I look at myself, I feel my appearance lack many things, I feel less than what is considered "normal" in this society today. I feel bad having pimples on my face, though I am turning 22 this year. I feel horribly sad having flabby area around my stomach instead of six packs. I feel terrible having extremely deteriorated eye-sight causing me to wear glasses, looking like a nerd. I feel helpless, when I see that I find nothing much attractive in myself. No wonder I am still single. Sadness. Maybe being gay is not so bad after all. Maybe...

I have been out whole day through to the late night, for the previous five days or so, helping out a friend who has just arrived in Perth from Tasmania with his parents, and oh boy, being busy and stressful with a purpose and actually doing something good made me feel like I have finally saved the world from total destruction. Well, I feel like myself being rewarded with much joy and happiness, doing what I can though my biological battery was completely drained out along the process, preventing me from blogging on usual rhythms.

2006/08Poor Innocent Kids
I have seen many street performances in Perth, with people doing all sorts of weird and abnormal things as their effort to beg for money from the "passer-by"s. I have been to Fremantle lately, and I have seen something rather striking to me. For those of you who are in Perth and familiar with Fremantle, probably this is nothing new. For the first time, I see children of very very young age doing street performance. Here is the video clip I shot on their performace.

I felt really privileged to be informed and invited by Lorinda to a very rare and interesting event hosted by the Minister of international Trade and Industry of Malaysia, Rafidah Aziz. The event was "Business Opportunities in Malaysia", something to do about a range of promotional talks and presentations on igniting the interest of Perth business big shots and investors towards opportunities in Malaysia. It turned out that most of the audience attending the event happened to be the top CEOs and business personnel of companies around Perth. Now I feel so small, being just, a student.

2006/08Of Wide Open Court
It was an early Saturday morning, when every normal living university students would sleep in their warm cozy bed sheltering away the coldness of winter morning.... I woke up and got ready to go. My stomach was hungry, and the house ran out of breakfast supply. With an empty stomach of growling hunger, I walked on. It was a chilly morning, winds blowing madly, ice-cold air, gloomy weather, with a little drizzle of precious rare rain in this dry land... I walked on to the university. My foot was hurting with blisters at the back due to over-walking around Perth city and King's Park from previous days.... but it did not dampen my spirit.

This entry shall take you on a brief tour on the "things" that live "around" my place in Perth. Something Purple... I shall share this one tale that happened probably a year ago, when I first moved out from the residential hall to a rented house which I have shared with 2 wonderful friends. Let's just say that from previous experience living in the hall, I have got to know some insanely beautiful Japanese girls (alright, maybe insanely is a bit of an exaggeration) and with sheer fortune they have become my friends.

I love Chocolates, used to be really addicted to Cadbury Milk Chocolate Bars, would love to order Hot Chocolate with Marshmallow over Latte or Cappuccino at local cafes, simply adore Hot or Iced Milo, prefer Cheese Cake with Chocolate toppings.. and any sweet desert with chocolate in or on it. The brownish texture and cocoa content just never failed to give me that tingling sensation every time I place those warm soft melting chocolates into my mouth. So sinfully delicious and tempting.

2006/08Technorati Domination Movement
Alright, I got tagged again, and this time I am doing a rather unique and dissimilar meme/tag that was initiated by the great swifty. Instead of questioning and writing stuff of complete randomness, this meme does not require much of writing at all. In fact, the very purpose of this meme is to increase number of links to your blog/website, increasing your technorati favourite bookmarks and ultimately increasing your technorati ranking as well as Google Page Rank. Hence, the name of the meme, technorati domination movement. Genius idea from Swifty.

This is my much needed rest, which unintentionally included time out from blogging activities. So what have I done in my resting days you ask? Since I have just got back home from a far away place, being away for so long, I just could not resist but to attack all the Kuching food as much as I can. Since I have limited cash while I am here, I had to refrain myself from doing anything overly crazy or go to fancy places. Thus, the only thing that could make my time pass worthily and suffice my blogging needs: cheap delicious Kuching food. I hope you guys, especially those not from Kuching, and also those from Kuching but currently away somewhere SUFFER drool over what I will be posting in my blog in coming few entries or so.

2006/09Laksa with clams
I have been in Kuching ever since birth, and virtually have tasted laksa, the one special local delicacy from all over the places in this humble small city. I generally would prefer thicker gravy, less taugeh (bean sprouts) and spicier end taste in the laksa. Most people would go for larger and fresher prawns. I for one do not fancy the prawns that much.

2006/09Kuching Waterfront
I was back in Kuching on the 30th August, which was the day right before the nationwide celebration of Malaysian Independence Day took place, coincidentally in the humble town of Kuching this year. As a blogger, what did I do? After long hours of flights, and tiring activities and rushing from places to places, I chose to sleep through the entire next day. Yes, the most happening, probably the largest central nation celebration which was rarely held in my hometown, I was back in time for the celebration, yet I chose my beauty sleep. Darn it, I may be a blogger, but I am no reporter.

2006/09Home sweet home
It was a long journey back home from Perth, and the stopping for 4 days in KL dragged the entire never-ending trip back home even further. However, on the day before merdeka (Independance Day of Malaysia) I took a flight back to Kuching from KL, and safely touched down, and found my steps back to my family that I love so much. Somehow, there was a sense of relief reaching home, and I am happy to see that things have been good since I was away. Nevertheless, being away for so long, one could not help but feel a little out of place returning home.

2006/09Meet Shaz and Gang
I know I may have upset a lot of people when I arrived in KL unannounced. Allow me to explain my part, and make myself clear before any more misunderstandings spread further. It was not my original plan to stop by at KL on my way home to Kuching from Perth, and it was a very last minute decision to stay back in KL, and I made the confirmations on the flight details on Thursday (24th August). I had very little time left for myself, to pack properly, to do going home shopping, to arrange and settle going away stuff, and not to mention my long episodes of farewell series !! Heck, I did not even say proper goodbyes to everyone in Perth.

2006/09Of Visiting Kuala Lumpur
Since useless and over-priced Malaysian Airlines 'cleverly' cancelled direct flights from Kuching to Perth, the route I took travelling from Perth to Kuching made an interesting stop/transit at Kuala Lumpur, the heart of Malaysia. I have never really fancied that overly congested, fast paced, heavily air-polluted and busy huge city life in KL. However, since the flight does stop in KL, I arranged my following flight back to Kuching to be delayed a few days later, allowing me sufficient time to stay back and do imaginative things in KL while I am there.

2006/09The Flight Away from Perth

I just need to have people around me, and knowing the fact that friends I have made in Perth are real, having them sending me off is truly an honor.

Oh dear, I am so very lagging behind in my blogging pace, if I keep going with this turtle crawling speed my blog will be known as the blog from the yesterdays. Not good, not good at all. Nevertheless I shall try to speed things up. However, something as special as a bloggers' meet in Perth, dedicated just for my farewell deserves a separate and unique entry in this blog !! Having blogged for almost a year now, being away from home for so long, joining the new network of blogger friends in Perth, and actually made REAL friends with the Perth bloggers, I am truly a blessed person.
